RHOA Season 6/Episode 2 - Love and Hip Hop Season 4 Episode 3 Reviews

What is going on in TV Land? Were both episodes of these hows boring to anyone else this past week? Let's see:

RHOA- I understand some storylines have to develop and grow but DAMN!!! I feel bad for Cynthia and her medical issue. I remember reading about her "baby bump" and thinking to myself, there was a real backstory... Well, there was. Prayers and best wishes for her. I love me some Porsha but she needs to stop having her entire airtime dedicated to "my divorce" "mommy, Kordell is a monster" and so on. Girl, get it together. You have eluded to on the show and on talk shows that he has some secret. You chose to marry him. Get it together. Also, I think she is pining away for him because she seemed disappointed when that spousal support check came in. She should've went and cashed it before he put a stop payment on it. Phaedra is also a favorite but she is just boring this season and that funeral get up she had on with the veil?!?! No comment. Nene is still funny as hell. Her reactions and comments to Kenya "Delusional" Moore were hilarious. Kenya is just that...DELUSIONAL. The whole Kandi/Todd/Momma Joyce thing is already wearing thin. Momma Joyce did not approve of AJ because of how many kids he had and his job. Now she is claiming Todd is no good. Kandi is PAID; it is hard to find an available man that is straight and PAID like her but Todd is far from broke. This whole thing seems really contrived to give Momma Joyce some airtime. I wish Marlo would pop on the screen already. We know she is filming for the show, so where is she at??? Let's hope episode 3 is better.

Love and Hip Hop Season 4- Episode 3

BORING. Why does this Nya Lee or whatever her name is feel so entitled? Did anyone else notice her say she is tired of dancing and then say she loves her job? Girl, get your story straight. Next. That black hair looks good on Erica. She seemed to have calmed down and she seemed really infatuated with her girlfriend. That is a side of Erica we never see. I loved it. Then we have Yandy and Rich. Yandy is a fool for working with Rich. Yandy is also trying to balance friendship with work and that did not work out. She invited Tara to that damn performance for what?!?! Then, for her to ask Amina a series of questions related to singing and throw the "why are you playing second?" curve ball was unexpected. But Amina sure did drop her marriage proof like it was a draw 4 card in UNO. SMH. Erica J and Saigon serve no purpose on the show. Sorry. I just don't get it. Tahiry knows she loves her some Joe but tries to run from it. They need to get it together. I like them together. Let's hope the show gets better. Because this episode bored me.

5 DIY, Natural Skin Tips That WORK

Skin maintenance can get expensive and become a task. Here are 5 things that work, that will help you achieve perfect glowing skin. Not to mention, they're inexpensive and yield lasting results.

1. Exfoliate- Mix the juice of one half of a lemon with 1/2 a cup of brown sugar.  Mix together until it is gritty and the consistency you desire. Doing this twice a week, will help you maintain optimal results.

2. The most important thing to skin care is finding a mild cleanser that doesn't strip your body of natural oils and throw off your ph balance. One of the mildest and most effective cleansers you can use for your face is none other than, baby wash. It can be any
brand, just avoid the scented variety. Get the original for  best results.

3. Toner- There are many of things you can use a toner. One that I always find success with is mixing pure witch hazel with essential orange oil. It tones your face and smells great. Use after cleansing your face, to see the best and glowing results. You can't go wrong with this method.

4. Moisturizing- I am sure you have all seen or heard many uses of Coconut Oil. Well, this is thee best, hands down moisturizer you will ever put on your face. Give it a try and you won't be disappointed.

5. The last thing is more internal. It is my special detox drink that gets you glowing skin and also, helps your body internally. It is simple. 1 cup of boiling water, mixed with 1 tbsp of lemon juice, one dash of cayenne pepper and a generous dash of cinnamon. Drink this every morning and your skin will be perfectly flawless within the first week or two of doing this.

Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 6

This post is not going to be a very long post because the season premiere was not that great...well, not until the last 2 minutes. Anyways, let's get into this review.

The show started off with Nene and Greg after their wedding. Then kind of touched base with the rest of the cast and where they are now. I will just say that Kandi did not have a big storyline this episode. It served as the opener to the feud with her mom and Todd. There was no action but it was spoken of. That should get good. Phaedra also had a small role in this episode. Porsha said some things that make me wonder what the real scoop is on Kordell. What things did she know before they wed? What things was she using as ammo in mediation? Based on what she told the lawyer and then her talk with her mom, I am curious. I will say, if she knew there was something off, she should not have married him. If she is playing into the gay rumors to be relevant, shame on her. If it's true, I'm gonna pop some popcorn every Sunday and watch this mess unfold. Umm... Cynthia is moving her agency to a building by Bar One that Peter owns. Hmmm... No comment as of now. Kenya, needs to get over Walter. That is old and played out, just like "gone with the wind fabulous". The show ended with Cynthia's White Party for the new location for her business. Kenya tried to come for Nene and Nene shut her down. I was so glad Nene got her together. I also,do not feel Kenya asking about Porsha's marriage was appropriate at all. It was not sincere and genuine. Anyways, all in all, the episode was boring but a good transition into the new season. When the drama starts, my reviews will get longer.

Scandal Season 3, Episode 5 - "More Cattle, Less Bull"

This weeks episode was better than last weeks. Amen. When the episode started with Jake in Mr. Pope's house stealing "Operation Remington" files, I knew it was going to get real good, real fast but we'll get back to that.

Lisa Kudrow as Democratic Congresswoman Josephine Marcus did a great job. Her character was introduced when she was interviewing Olivia to run her presidential campaign. Olivia gave it to her straight, no chaser.  When she said "you're in highschool, visiting college for the weekend....I can fix that..." I damn near spit my drink out laughing, until Josie told her her real motives. I did not know what to expect. When Liv sent them to the country where Josie was from, I was not feeling Quinn this episode. She is going off the deep end or something but we'll see.... OF course, as fixers, they fixed the problem, kinda. When Cyrus' flunkie realized Olivia was ahead of the game and he called Cyrus, I lost it. I think "We got poped" replaced "It's handled" as my favorite catch phrase thus far. Back to the story when the nurse admitted hte baby was not put up for adoption,  they figured it out in 3 seconds that the sister was the daughter...and my head spun. Too much. I'm not saying they were being stereotypical of the south but a sister/daughter?!? Anyways, Josie refused to acknowledge that her sister was really her daughter until Governor Reston had her on the spot at the debate, in a strange turn of events, she won over everyone but fired Olivia after. WTF?!?! The correspondence dinner scene was nice. Olivia looked stunning in her black and white gown. Fitz told the joke she told him to say. Blah blah blah. I was kinda bored at that point until Secret Service came for Olivia and she thought she was meeting Fitz...but Mellie was behind the door. Mellie being her conniving self, tried to persuade and guilt Olivia into running Fitz re-election campaign. She implied they owe him from rigging the last election and Fitz needs her. SMH. When Mellie said "Come back to us", I was done. Hmmm... What else? Abby not going to the dinner because of her ex husband is something I am sure will develop further into the season. Josie asked Olivia to come back to work for her at the end. Olivia said no because we all know she wants to go work for Fitz but the kicker is...Jake and Huck discovered Fitz may or may not have killed Liv's mother. Ish just got real over at Scandal.... I'm anxious for next week. My last question is- Where the hell is Harrison's storyline this season?

Fall Fun

Fall is here. Rather than complain about the weather or any other problems that come with the season change, embrace it. Here are some ideas and tips to make fall a memorable season for you.

1. Layer -

That is the fun of fall. You can layer and accessorize with scarves and all sorts of fun things. This Coral/Owl Print Scarf will make the perfect fall accessory.

2. Fall Treats-

These Target Exclusive Pumpkin Spice M&M's are one of the many pumpkin spiced items that help you enjoy the season. Yummy.

3. Festive Nails-
Paint your nails in accordance to the season. No one should be walking around this fall with candy apple red or cotton candy pink nails. Get yourself fall colored nails and take in the season.

4.  Catch Up On Your Reading-

This is as good a time as any to read the new books or past books that you've been putting off. Embrace the season and read your little heart out.

5. Take advantage of lazy Sundays.
Nothing is better than a Lifetime Movie or SVU marathon on a long Sunday afternoon. Stay warm and be lazy. Sunday is the day for rest after all.

Make sure to enjoy your fall season.

Love and Hip Hop Season 4 Premiere

Monday night (10-28) saw the new season of Love and Hip Hop premiere.

Where to start? First of all, let's point out that none of the original cast returned, with the exception of Rich Dollaz (who is recurring and not a regular). Yandy is the closest thing to original cast; she joined season 2. Let's break it down by storyline.

Yandy- Still going through the motions with Mendeecees and his situation. She is a stand up woman to take care of his son. She is still a true boss and I wish her luck with her label with Rich Dollaz. Yandy is also no joke when it comes to how she handles her man, behind bars or not, she let him know what was what. As much as I respect and love Yandy's work ethic and her ability to turn everything into a check, I will admit that seeing her get emotional and tear up, humanizes her. That was all for her on this episode. Her storyline looks promising though.

Tara and Amina- I think the love triangle is inauthentic and contrived. What works for the Atlanta cast, does not work for the NY cast. That aside, if there is any validity to it, Amina is cold. While she can sang, who the hell keeps a man from his family? Again, if the love triangle is real, Tara knows what is going on and is just in denial. I will not comment on Aminas tattoo. Nope. Not going there.

Erica Mena- She is looking all kinds of gorgeous with the dark hair. She is in a full time relationship with a female. I ain't mad at that. She has another book coming out. She did not hold back on her feelings of Peter Gunz or "Little Gunz" as she called him. She had a point with it though on the double standards.

K. Michelle- Her role in this weeks episode was small and insignificant but we all know she is going to turn up eventually. Her friend, Paris, is too funny. I hope New York is ready for her.

Tahiry- She seems genuinely happy to be back with Joe. Their role in this episode was establishing that they are back in a relationship. It was cute to watch them interact. Joe still has his sense of humor and Tahiry is still a banger. I look forward to seeing their relationship unfold.

There is another new cast member, Erica J...but she was not featured this episode. We'll see how this goes. Let's hope episode 2 is worth while.

Scandal Season 3 Episodes 1 -4

After the way Season 2 ended, I was hoping they would pick up where they left off and they did. So, lets break it down by episodes.

Episode 1 "It's Handled" - First of all, it was a relief to know Olivia's dad was not trying to have her killed but the way he was trying to force her to disappear had me worried. When he said "The white house will destroy you!" and she replied "Funny, that's what mom used to say about you." and rolled up her window, was perfection. I was glad that she got the heat taken off of her for the affair but was curious to see how things would fare with Jenine. Also, her clients will all be back, let's not read too much into that. I was ready for episode 2.

Episode 2 "Guess Who's Comin To Dinner - So, the flashback scenes that provided us a glimpse as to how Olivia and Huck met were done to perfection. I actually got a little sad at some of the scenes. I still am not a fan of Eli Pope though. Umm.. all in all, Jenine played herself. She was going to lie for money, Fitz beat her to it but Abby told her she'd get her book deals and interviews and ended it with "this is what you wanted" was everything. Sally Langston is starting to work my last nerve. Huck choking Olivia was hard to watch and I was glad to see Jake Ballard was alive. Damn, I could not wait for episode 3.

Episode 3 "Mrs. Smith Goes To Washington" - This episode was crazy. I struggled with seeing Huck going through his issues. That poor woman with the bomb had me on the edge of my seat. When Olivia opened the window shades and stood there for the snipers to see her, that was brave and dumb. Abby and David are still in love; they need to get it together. Mellie's monologue about "Saint Olivia Pope" was raw and emotional. The ending with Olivia and Huck was so real and compelling. Bring on episode 4.

Episode 4 "Say Hello To My Little Friend" - This episode was kind of mediocre to me. I think it set up future story lines and put a dramatized spin on Anthony Weiner but this episode was very  blah. I was shocked when they figured out the wife was the killer though. I wish I had more to say but the episode was not that memorable. I will have a review of episode 5 up following the episode. I look forward to Lisa Kudrow appearing on the show.

Miley Cyrus - Bangerz/Giveaway

Miley Cyrus recently dropped her new album, "Bangerz". The effort lives up to its title because the album is full of Bangerz. She was hands on having a co-writing credit on all but 2 tracks. She had a vision, she sought out those she wanted on this journey and made it happen. I admit when someone titles their album "Bangerz" it can sound a little arrogant but she backs it up. Here is a track by track review.

1. Adore You - This Stacy Barthe penned track is the perfect song to open the album with. Miley soulfully coo's and sings her way through this song beautifully. Probably the best track on the album. 5/5

2. We Can't Stop- The lead single, the first time we heard the "New Miley". It's content might be a little risque but the word play is brilliant. Solid. 4/5

3. SMS (Bangerz) featuring Britney Spears - Miley cockily chants her way through this Mike Will Made It production, while Britney makes a cameo. The song is fun, catchy and could have honestly done without the Britney verse but all in all, a solid effot. 4/5

4. 4x4 featuring Nelly - This Pharrell produced track is not necessarily bad but does not cohesively fit into the track list. The least solid track on the album to me. 2/5

5. My Darlin featuring Future - This track shows Miley and Future go note for note, word for word. Contains a sample of "Stand By Me" and delivers in a young, fresh way. I will admit Future is a feature heavy artist and that formula tends to get played out when one artist is on any and every song but his feature actually works for this track. Solid. 5/5

6. Wrecking Ball - This Dr. Luke produced power ballad is genius. I can not help but wonder what Beyonce` would sound like on this track considering it is one of her leftovers but Miley made it her own and is probably one of the best songs of 2013. Solid. 5/5

7. Love Money Party featuring Big Sean - Miley sing/raps and destroys this track. You will listen over and over and think "Did she just do that?". Yes, she did. Oh yeah, Big Sean makes a feature. 5/5

8. #GETITRIGHT - The Pharrell produced track sounds like 90's rnb mixed with 2013 funk. He redeemed himself with this contribution because "4x4" is..... Solid. 4/5

9. Drive- This song is not one of the best. It is not bad but it sure is not her best. It is what is referred to as a "filler track". One of the few songs I could take or leave. 3/5

10. FU featuring French Montana - This break up anthem gives me Amy Winehouse meets Kelis meets scorned chick. If you need a break up anthem to get you through, this is it. This track is just too amazing for words. 5/5

11. Do My Thang - An ode to those haters. No more words needed. Solid vocals, solid lyrics. 5/5

12. Maybe You're Right - A beautiful vocal delivery, her voice tells a story on this track. Brilliant writing also. Solid 4/5

13. Someone Else - She could not have chosen a better track to end the stander version of the album with. 4/5

We are giving away one hard copy cd of "Bangerz" to one lucky subscriber of our blog... Here's all you need to do to be considered.

Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime; that is roughly 47 women per day. Whether it's you or someone close to you, it will more than likely affect your life to some degree.  There is no sure way to prevent breast cancer but there are things that you can do that may be preventative such as eating well, lowering alcohol intake, exercise and even breast feeding. Those things are simple measures that may save you. Regular breast screenings (Mammograms) may not cure or prevent cancer but is a helpful tool for catching it early. So ladies, do not just be aware during this month but all of the time. Educate yourselves, stay actively involved in yourself and help bring awareness for those who are not so fortunate.
In honor of The Susan G. Komen Foundation and Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we are featuring products in support of awareness. We are showing our support; will you do the same.

Weekly Wrap-Up.

It has been a crazy week with Television, Music and Celebrities. We will talk about our TOP 5 Crazy, Wacky, Weird Reactions to this week.

1. Khloe Kardashian Oh, Whaaaaa????
Not one to take part in the DRAMA or Gossip, we have kept an open mind with no opinions on the Khloe Kardashian/Lamar Odom drama, however where there is smoke there must be fire because Khloe recently dropped Odom from her bio's and social network names. She proudly was an "Odom" since their 2009 marriage, even going as far as to tell her sisters "you are Kardashians but I am an Odom". Well, we will keep you updated on this and hope they are able to work it out; they make such a cute couple. On a complete sidenote- Isn't Khloe looking totally gorgeous as of late? Yesssss.

2. Drake - Nothing Was The Same released.

Drakes highly anticipated third album dropped this week and it is probably his best effort to date. I felt a slight loss of passion when he released "Take Care", it almost felt too rushed and impersonal. I was hoping he would redeem himself with this release and he surely did. It gives you everything you need. Very solid album. If you need a non-single to judge if you'll like it, allow me to suggest "From Time (featuring Jhene` Aiko)". I promise you will be hooked; Drake and Jhene` compliment each other and this collabo is LIFE personified. Yes.

3. Rihanna vs. Teyana Taylor.

This week saw singer/cyber bully extraordinaire, Rihanna meet her match. She threw shade in the wrong direction this week when her hair stylist mimicked a performance of Teyana singing "Caught Up In The Rapture" by Anita Baker. Things took a turn for the worse when Teyana made her background on twitter a mocked photo of the 2 boxing, using Rihanna's infamous photo after the domestic violence incident that occurred in 2009. The tweets and the situation has since died down a little but when a fan tweeted Teyana asking why she removed her tweets, she stated only because her mother asked her to and she stands behind them still. We'll see how this one plays out?

4. Evelyn Lozada not returning to BBW 5?!?!?

Evelyn is doing a promo tour for Youth20 and stated in an interview she only signed on for 5 seasons and would not be returning if there is a season 6 but is "open to reality television" just not BBW. If she takes the Nene Leakes approach, she will be back with a pay raise. Let us not forget that Nene has not been returning for 3 seasons now, yet is still on RHOA. We'll see...

5. BIG DIVA?!?!?

We will end this post on the oversized head, Dora The Explorer looking mascot for the weave bar that Tasha Marbury is investing in? Some things need no words; this is one of them.  But on a brief sidenote- The looks on the ladies faces when Big Diva showed up was priceless.

There are so many ways to wear pearls without looking like an old woman attending a baptism on Sunday morning. Basketball Wives Season 5 Premiere

The season 5 premiere was a lot different than the "Basketball Wives" we are used to.  Some seem to think it was boring; some seem to think it was depressing. Everyone has their own opinion and here is mine.

The show did revolve around the infamous Evelyn and Chad domestic abuse incident. I think that it was meant to bring awareness and put the focus on something other than drink throwing and insults for once.
Public opinion is the main thing that truly changed all facets of America. There were open letters, petitions, you name it to stop airing this show. Loyal fans threatening to quit watching the show if it didn't stop portraying women of color in a negative light. Shaunie O'Neal and VH1 heard the pleas and decided to air other areas of the women's lives. They gave the public what the masses what they wanted and the masses no longer wanted it. It's like that boyfriend that breaks your heart and you want him back so bad only to reconcile and kick him to the curb a week later. People can be so fickle.
It is unfortunate that Evelyn became the poster child for domestic abuse survivors, it truly is. She is using her platform (reality tv) to be an advocate for women all over the world that are in similar situations; she is simply fulfilling her social responsibility and is receiving backlash for being "boring".
Let's say that they briefly touched on the incident and the show then focused on Evelyn throwing bottles across tables, getting dragged out of restaurants and hurling insults at the other ladies. Then there would have been backlash; she would once again be to blame for an inaccurate portrayal of women of color. She would once again be blamed for getting head butted because of her temper. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
I commend Evelyn for showing dark, sad periods of her life. It is hard to lose a family member to an ill fated disease and lose your husband due to extramarital affairs and domestic violence; to allow the world to watch you go through it is a whole new ball game.

Moving on.... The show also gave a glimpse in to Tamis struggle with preparing to lose her mother and my heart went out to her. I felt her pain through the screen. I am also looking forward to seeing a new side of Shaunie as well. I really do not have much to say about Suzy and am a little disappointed the new member has not been introduced yet. All in all, the trailer looks promising for the season.

I must also say, I loved Evelyn's earrings while she was giving commentary.

Love and Hip Hop Atlanta Reunion Show Fashion

How many of you lovelies watch Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta? Well, we do and we are curious who watched the reunion? We want to discuss the fashion at the season 2 reunion. While all of the ladies came dressed and ready to show out, we will rate the ladies for their ensembles from top to bottom. This is not a best and worst dressed list, per se, it is just rating our top 5 favorite looks from the reunion. Feel free to comment, whether you agree or disagree with our choices.

First up, we have Ariane, looking like a real life version of Jessica Rabbit. Sexy, flirty and secure in herself. She is our top pick in her custom made, 1 of a kind ensemble.
Second, we have Mimi in her orange, McQueen gown and gold accessories. She kept it simple and sweet and allowed her gown to be the focus point.
Third up is Dj Traci Steele. She kepit it simple and demure yet still managed to pull off some level of sensuality. Yes.
Fourth on this list is the one and only, Miss Erica Dixon. She was perfectly put together from the shoes to the make up but the sexiest thing she rocked at the reunion is her new found confidence. Love it.
 5. Lastly we have Shay Johnson. The season 1 reunion was not a good look for Shay and she redeemed herself this year. She played it safe and it actually worked for her. Go 'head girl.
