Fall Fun

Fall is here. Rather than complain about the weather or any other problems that come with the season change, embrace it. Here are some ideas and tips to make fall a memorable season for you.

1. Layer -

That is the fun of fall. You can layer and accessorize with scarves and all sorts of fun things. This Coral/Owl Print Scarf will make the perfect fall accessory.

2. Fall Treats-

These Target Exclusive Pumpkin Spice M&M's are one of the many pumpkin spiced items that help you enjoy the season. Yummy.

3. Festive Nails-
Paint your nails in accordance to the season. No one should be walking around this fall with candy apple red or cotton candy pink nails. Get yourself fall colored nails and take in the season.

4.  Catch Up On Your Reading-

This is as good a time as any to read the new books or past books that you've been putting off. Embrace the season and read your little heart out.

5. Take advantage of lazy Sundays.
Nothing is better than a Lifetime Movie or SVU marathon on a long Sunday afternoon. Stay warm and be lazy. Sunday is the day for rest after all.

Make sure to enjoy your fall season.

Love and Hip Hop Season 4 Premiere

Monday night (10-28) saw the new season of Love and Hip Hop premiere.

Where to start? First of all, let's point out that none of the original cast returned, with the exception of Rich Dollaz (who is recurring and not a regular). Yandy is the closest thing to original cast; she joined season 2. Let's break it down by storyline.

Yandy- Still going through the motions with Mendeecees and his situation. She is a stand up woman to take care of his son. She is still a true boss and I wish her luck with her label with Rich Dollaz. Yandy is also no joke when it comes to how she handles her man, behind bars or not, she let him know what was what. As much as I respect and love Yandy's work ethic and her ability to turn everything into a check, I will admit that seeing her get emotional and tear up, humanizes her. That was all for her on this episode. Her storyline looks promising though.

Tara and Amina- I think the love triangle is inauthentic and contrived. What works for the Atlanta cast, does not work for the NY cast. That aside, if there is any validity to it, Amina is cold. While she can sang, who the hell keeps a man from his family? Again, if the love triangle is real, Tara knows what is going on and is just in denial. I will not comment on Aminas tattoo. Nope. Not going there.

Erica Mena- She is looking all kinds of gorgeous with the dark hair. She is in a full time relationship with a female. I ain't mad at that. She has another book coming out. She did not hold back on her feelings of Peter Gunz or "Little Gunz" as she called him. She had a point with it though on the double standards.

K. Michelle- Her role in this weeks episode was small and insignificant but we all know she is going to turn up eventually. Her friend, Paris, is too funny. I hope New York is ready for her.

Tahiry- She seems genuinely happy to be back with Joe. Their role in this episode was establishing that they are back in a relationship. It was cute to watch them interact. Joe still has his sense of humor and Tahiry is still a banger. I look forward to seeing their relationship unfold.

There is another new cast member, Erica J...but she was not featured this episode. We'll see how this goes. Let's hope episode 2 is worth while.

Scandal Season 3 Episodes 1 -4

After the way Season 2 ended, I was hoping they would pick up where they left off and they did. So, lets break it down by episodes.

Episode 1 "It's Handled" - First of all, it was a relief to know Olivia's dad was not trying to have her killed but the way he was trying to force her to disappear had me worried. When he said "The white house will destroy you!" and she replied "Funny, that's what mom used to say about you." and rolled up her window, was perfection. I was glad that she got the heat taken off of her for the affair but was curious to see how things would fare with Jenine. Also, her clients will all be back, let's not read too much into that. I was ready for episode 2.

Episode 2 "Guess Who's Comin To Dinner - So, the flashback scenes that provided us a glimpse as to how Olivia and Huck met were done to perfection. I actually got a little sad at some of the scenes. I still am not a fan of Eli Pope though. Umm.. all in all, Jenine played herself. She was going to lie for money, Fitz beat her to it but Abby told her she'd get her book deals and interviews and ended it with "this is what you wanted" was everything. Sally Langston is starting to work my last nerve. Huck choking Olivia was hard to watch and I was glad to see Jake Ballard was alive. Damn, I could not wait for episode 3.

Episode 3 "Mrs. Smith Goes To Washington" - This episode was crazy. I struggled with seeing Huck going through his issues. That poor woman with the bomb had me on the edge of my seat. When Olivia opened the window shades and stood there for the snipers to see her, that was brave and dumb. Abby and David are still in love; they need to get it together. Mellie's monologue about "Saint Olivia Pope" was raw and emotional. The ending with Olivia and Huck was so real and compelling. Bring on episode 4.

Episode 4 "Say Hello To My Little Friend" - This episode was kind of mediocre to me. I think it set up future story lines and put a dramatized spin on Anthony Weiner but this episode was very  blah. I was shocked when they figured out the wife was the killer though. I wish I had more to say but the episode was not that memorable. I will have a review of episode 5 up following the episode. I look forward to Lisa Kudrow appearing on the show.

Miley Cyrus - Bangerz/Giveaway

Miley Cyrus recently dropped her new album, "Bangerz". The effort lives up to its title because the album is full of Bangerz. She was hands on having a co-writing credit on all but 2 tracks. She had a vision, she sought out those she wanted on this journey and made it happen. I admit when someone titles their album "Bangerz" it can sound a little arrogant but she backs it up. Here is a track by track review.

1. Adore You - This Stacy Barthe penned track is the perfect song to open the album with. Miley soulfully coo's and sings her way through this song beautifully. Probably the best track on the album. 5/5

2. We Can't Stop- The lead single, the first time we heard the "New Miley". It's content might be a little risque but the word play is brilliant. Solid. 4/5

3. SMS (Bangerz) featuring Britney Spears - Miley cockily chants her way through this Mike Will Made It production, while Britney makes a cameo. The song is fun, catchy and could have honestly done without the Britney verse but all in all, a solid effot. 4/5

4. 4x4 featuring Nelly - This Pharrell produced track is not necessarily bad but does not cohesively fit into the track list. The least solid track on the album to me. 2/5

5. My Darlin featuring Future - This track shows Miley and Future go note for note, word for word. Contains a sample of "Stand By Me" and delivers in a young, fresh way. I will admit Future is a feature heavy artist and that formula tends to get played out when one artist is on any and every song but his feature actually works for this track. Solid. 5/5

6. Wrecking Ball - This Dr. Luke produced power ballad is genius. I can not help but wonder what Beyonce` would sound like on this track considering it is one of her leftovers but Miley made it her own and is probably one of the best songs of 2013. Solid. 5/5

7. Love Money Party featuring Big Sean - Miley sing/raps and destroys this track. You will listen over and over and think "Did she just do that?". Yes, she did. Oh yeah, Big Sean makes a feature. 5/5

8. #GETITRIGHT - The Pharrell produced track sounds like 90's rnb mixed with 2013 funk. He redeemed himself with this contribution because "4x4" is..... Solid. 4/5

9. Drive- This song is not one of the best. It is not bad but it sure is not her best. It is what is referred to as a "filler track". One of the few songs I could take or leave. 3/5

10. FU featuring French Montana - This break up anthem gives me Amy Winehouse meets Kelis meets scorned chick. If you need a break up anthem to get you through, this is it. This track is just too amazing for words. 5/5

11. Do My Thang - An ode to those haters. No more words needed. Solid vocals, solid lyrics. 5/5

12. Maybe You're Right - A beautiful vocal delivery, her voice tells a story on this track. Brilliant writing also. Solid 4/5

13. Someone Else - She could not have chosen a better track to end the stander version of the album with. 4/5

Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime; that is roughly 47 women per day. Whether it's you or someone close to you, it will more than likely affect your life to some degree.  There is no sure way to prevent breast cancer but there are things that you can do that may be preventative such as eating well, lowering alcohol intake, exercise and even breast feeding. Those things are simple measures that may save you. Regular breast screenings (Mammograms) may not cure or prevent cancer but is a helpful tool for catching it early. So ladies, do not just be aware during this month but all of the time. Educate yourselves, stay actively involved in yourself and help bring awareness for those who are not so fortunate.
In honor of The Susan G. Komen Foundation and Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we are featuring products in support of awareness. We are showing our support; will you do the same.
